Multi-Standard Multi-Device Adaptive Coupling Transmitter

WiPQTUS Multi-Standard Adaptive Coupling wireless power Transmitter excels at seamlessly delivering wireless power to smartphones, tablets, wearables, notebooks and a slew of other portable devices. These portable devices are varied in their power needs, charging profile, form factors, standards, etc. WiPQTUS transmitter is outstanding in power delivery, efficiency, X-Y charging area, Z-height, multi-standard support, multi-device charging and safety features for wireless charging these portable devices.

50W Multi-Standard Wireless Power Transmitter for Notebooks, 2-in-1s, Tablets, Smartphone, Wearables and other Portables:

WiPQTUS Multi-Standard Adaptive Coupling (AC) Transmitter delivers the highest wireless power in the industry for consumer and industrial portables – upto 50W per receiver.

WiPQTUS Multi-Standard AC Transmitter delivers upto 50W with low-height, low-cost, mass volume electromagnetic coil structures. Via patent-pending AC technology, the WiPQTUS Transmitter is aware of the level of coupling with the receiver. Based on the level of coupling and the amount of power requested by the receiver, the AC Transmitter rapidly adjusts its operating point to deliver the required power at the highest efficiency. The AC Transmitter is capable of tuning the delivered wireless power up and down – from very little (0.5W) to very high (50W) and vice versa – almost instantaneously.

Being aware of the level of coupling, the WiPQTUS Multi-Standard AC Transmitter operates in both tightly coupled and loosely coupled zones/modes.

Qi-based and Powermat/Duracell-PMA-based receivers are typically placed in close alignment at the sweet spot of the transmitter’s magnetic field. Such a placement creates strong or tight coupling. The WiPQTUS Multi-Standard AC Transmitter senses this placement and transforms its processing and operating behavior. It matches to the coupling and protocol to deliver the required dynamic power at the highest efficiency to these receivers.

Charging area is a very critical component of ease of use. At a given Z-height between the transmitter and receiver, charging area is the X-Y area over which the full rated power is available wirelessly. Charging area includes the tightly coupled zone (area of strong magnetic field linkage) and the loosely coupled zone (area of weak magnetic field linkage). Via AC technology, the WiPQTUS Transmitter senses the coupling and transforms its operation to deliver the requested power to the receiver even when the receiver is placed in the loosely coupled zone. WiPQTUS AC Transmitter charges in both tightly coupled and loosely coupled zones thereby delivering industry leading Charging area.

WiPQTUS Multi-Standard Transmitters complement existing standards and deliver additional value such as extended Charging Area to help promote the rapid adoption of wireless charging in portables. WiPQTUS Multi-Standard AC Transmitter interoperates with Qi-based receivers and PMA-based receivers. With the recent public release of the A4WP/Rezence technical specification, WiPQTUS Transmitter is being enhanced to support the critical A4WP specification as well.

Portables such as Wearable devices (MOTO-Watch), smartphones (Nokia-Lumia) and Tablets (Asus-Google Nexus7) when charged wirelessly are charged in Planar Charging mode. In planar charging, the transmitter and receiver are facing each other either head-on (tightly coupled) or offset (loosely coupled). Planar charging is ideal for portables that have a flat surface such as smartphones, tablets and notebooks. It enables wireless charging at high efficiency.

Planar charging is not ideal for portables which do not have any flat surface (circular bracelet style) or have a small amount of flat surface such as the many Wearable devices like Fitness Trackers (FitBit, Microsoft Band), Smart Watches (Samsung Galaxy Gear, Apple Watch), Smart glass (Google Glass), hearing aids and heart-rate monitors. For such Wearable devices, Orthogonal Charging is ideal. In Orthogonal charging, the transmitter and receiver may not be facing each other; they can be rotationally misaligned and in the worst case, could be fully perpendicular to each other.

WiPQTUS Multi-Standard AC Transmitter is the industry’s first orthogonal charging transmitter that is based of simple, flat electromagnetic design. Via AC technology, the WiPQTUS Transmitter senses the level of coupling and transforms its operation to deliver the requested power to the receiver even in orthogonal alignment. Wearable devices can be charged even when the receiver is fully perpendicular to the transmitter. Consumers enjoy incredible positional freedom and ease of use for charging their Wearables via such a capability. Importantly, consumers can continue to wirelessly charge their smartphones, tablets, 2-in-1s and other portables on the same WiPQTUS AC Transmitter.

WiPQTUS Multi-Standard Transmitter in conjunction with WiPQTUS receiver delivers outstanding transient load response. After detecting and authenticating each other, the WiPQTUS transmitter and receiver switch into a proprietary ultra-low-cost in-band communication mode. This communication mode is designed ground-up to enable rapid convergence of operating point to changes in the load and receiver position. As power levels are scaled up and as charging area is widened, fast, accurate and efficient power control is very critical to ensure safe and damage-free charging of the portables. WiPQTUS Transmitter in conjunction with WiPQTUS receiver delivers just that.

WiPQTUS Multi-Standard Transmitter in conjunction with WiPQTUS receivers can simultaneous charge upto 3 receivers, upto 10W each. After detecting and authenticating each other, the WiPQTUS transmitter and receivers switch into a proprietary ultra-low-cost in-band communication mode. This communication mode is designed ground-up to enable the WiPQTUS transmitter to simultaneously listen to the needs of the multiple receivers. Like a good parent juggling with the needs of their children, the WiPQTUS AC Transmitter comes with many patent-pending algorithms and techniques to simultaneously satisfy the power needs of multiple receivers. WiPQTUS Transmitter is designed to manage the receivers’s requests even if they were dramatically different. For eg: one receiver wants zero power while the other wants 10W.

WiPQTUS Multi-Standard Transmitter in conjunction with Qi-based receivers and WiPQTUS receivers is metal object aware. Metal object detection is implemented over the entire load range and charging area. It is implemented in planar and orthogonal charging modes. The WiPQTUS transmitter includes several algorithms and techniques to sense foreign metal objects in the midst of varying levels of delivered wireless power and in the midst of varying levels of coupling.

WiPQTUS Multi-Standard transmitter has integrated higher power, higher efficiency, wider charging area, Z-height charging, orthogonal charging, multiple standards, simultaneous device charging and safety features – all into a low-profile, small transmitter footprint.
